Harriet T

Joined Brockhurst in 2018 as a Year 3 tutor and teacher for English and Maths. Prior to that I worked for 7 years in the state sector in both Key Stage 1 and Lower Key Stage 2. I started my teaching career in an East London school in the borough of Newham before moving to Kingsclere Church of England Primary School. Majority of my experience has been in Key Stage 1 in Years 1 and 2 both straight year group classes and mixed year group classes. Experience has included preparing pupils for their Year 1 phonics screening check which consistently resulted in my classes achieving well above National expectations. As well as successfully preparing pupils for their end of KS1 Year 2 SATS. In addition to this, I am now in my fourth year of teaching lower key stage 2 having taught straight Year 3 classes and a mixed Year 3/4 class. My initial degree was a BSc (Hons) degree in Equine Business Management. However, having always taught for the Pony Club, been involved with Youth Club work and Young Farmers and having taught in a girls’ school in Kenya for a GAP year programme I made the decision to retrain to be a teacher gaining a PGCE (QTS) at the University of Gloucestershire 2011-2012.
